Maverick

When we all met Sarah Palin back in 2008 during her campaign for vice presidency alongside Senator John McCain, we also met the entire Palin clan which included five children. The fact that Palin had 5 children which included a 17 year old pregnant daughter, made her family more relate-able. They were not this picture of perfection, but more a picture of a modern American family living up in Alaska; hunting deer, wearing lots of camouflage, and seeing Russia from their bedroom windows. During the election we saw 17 year old Bristol alongside her baby-daddy Levi Johnston at almost every function. They seemed like mature teenagers who recognized the challenges they were going to be faced with in the future, but were ready to take on the task at hand. All throughout the election Bristol and Levi were talking about being married. However as soon as McCain and Palin lost the election to Obama and Biden, the relationship between Bristol and Levi turned bitter and ugly.

Levi Johnston became a complete fame whore and pimped himself out to the likes of Kathy Griffin, Playgirl Magazine, and every other chance at media attention he could get. He spoke to the media often about the Palin family, airing their dirty laundry to anyone who would listen. This led Sarah and Bristol Palin to open up to the media about Levi and the back and forth slander sparked an all out war between the Palin's and the Johnstons. However somewhere between posing for Playgirl and Bristol's stint on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager", Bristol and Levi reconciled and are now engaged? (I put a question mark there because I'm still a bit confused by the matter). I of course understand that couples reconcile and the fact that these two have a young child together probably makes them more willing to let bygones be bygones. However, can you really forgive someone who has repeatedly gone to the media and trash talked your entire family? Well, I guess you can if you are going to make some money from it.

I learned today that Bristol and Levi want a full season deal for a reality show. Of course they do. Once their 15 minutes are up it's back to ice fishing and shotgunning beers for these two. And though I am happy for these two if they do get back together, at least for the sake of their child, I do not think they need to pimp themselves out any further. Why does everyone who has ever even been in the public think they should ultimately become a star? As Sarah Palin once said, "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. ... We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation."So Bristol, Levi, leave Hollywood, go back to that wonderful little pocket called Alaska, and live your life in that pro-America area.
